Waterlillyes

A slightly crazy 25 year old with a great husband and two wonderful kids. The only reason one would want to read my inner thoughts is complete boredom or unconditional love.

Ramblings

Sometimes I just sit here at work and I miss the kids. You know what I mean? I wish I was at home with them now. :( Tonight I'm planning - I've been meaning to do this for DAYS - to help Seth make his valentine box and write out his valentines. I love doing this! That's one of the Mommy jobs that is fun. Doing Valentine-y stuff with the kids. Of course, we'll have to do valentines for Lily too...don't think for a moment that she would let herself be left out of this. haha I actually bought them some Valentines last year on clearance. I think I got Transformers for Seth and Veggie Tales for Lily. Seth is also - ahem- supposed to be able to read every name of everyone in his class. They are listed on a piece of paper sent by the teacher. So tonight begins this undertaking. He's good at sounding out words...and I suppose he's pretty familiar with his classmates names, so maybe it won't be too hard for him (us) to do.

We still haven't uncovered an Indian suit either. It looks like our choices are: (1) Construct a really crappy one out of a paper bag or (2) buy one off the internet. I can't sew - I mean, at all. And everyone else that can sew has a life, I'm sure....or requires money...so anyway...I don't know where I'm going with this...so I'll stop here. :)

A complete change of subject here: I was reading another blog today ( http://threesons.clubmom.com ) and the author of that blog has recently adopted a little girl from Russia. That has always intrigued me. Adopting a child that is born into less than great circumstances...and giving them a life as a part of your family. Its just something I was thinking about today. Its amazing what people have to go through to adopt these children. The couple from this website had to go to Russia and personally pick her up from the orphanage, and she was dirty and smelled bad...so her first "real" bath in who knows how long was given to her by her new parents in their hotel room. Its really fascinating and it gives me a twinge of "what a wonderful thing", you know? What a wonderful thing for the child and the parents. Its very expensive too, apparantly. Very, very expensive. But it has all worked out great for this family. Its a sweet story.

Yeah it is a grueling process even if you go overseas (which is usually the easiest and quickest way).. That is why a lot of parents adopt from Asia. But it can take a year or more. And you always have to go yourself and pick up the child. And the trip is NOT fun.. Anyways, you know I think adoption is awesome. I'd love to adopt one day. Especially considering I wouldn't have to carry another child for nine months LOL. It's too hard to adopt, but if it's too easy, then anyone can get a child and we certainly don't want that happening!

Oh, by the way, I think you are naively assuming that the names in Seth's class are easy LOL... Remember Laundry (L'Andre)?? HA HA HA! I'm interested to know all the names in Seth's class, so after you go through them let me know.

Most of the names aren't too bad...definitely not of the L'Andre persuasion lol. Most of them are like Chasity, Bella, Matt, Hayden, pretty common names, which I admit is suprising. If I spot an unusual one I'll let you know.

I've always thought, in the back of my mind, that I would possibly adopt a child someday. Erick and I have talked about adopting a little Hispanic kid from somewhere. We've also joked that we could adopt an Asian kid and an African kid and have a truly multi-cultural family! LOL BUT...who knows what plans God has ahead for us in our lives!
